New Tree

I planted a new tree this morning in the back yard. It was hard work, but not as hard as people make it out to be. I dug the hole myself, loaded the tree in the wheelbarrow, wheeled it to the back of the house, unloaded it and placed it. Then I filled the hole back up. I am sure I will be sore tomorrow, but I have a feeling the pride from a job well done will help to ease the pain.

It is a Cleveland Pear so it won’t be a good climbing tree, but I hope it will provide Maggie with some more shade options this summer. We also have a lot of water that runs down that side of the yard and I hope it will help with that as well. Drink up tree!

Garden Greens

I have really been enjoying our leafy greens this year. So far we have had enough greens to have three big salads a week for each of us. I am considering putting the greens in with the strawberries (which are showing fruit now) next year so we can have even more. If the rest of the food is as tasty and does as well as the lettuce, we are in for a great year.

Spring Fling – 2010

Fort Zumwalt School District’s Parents as Teachers program held a Spring Fling on Wednesday, March 31st, 2010. Mia had a fun time. She interacted with a little girl named Vegas who was only a week older than her and actually was a little bit bigger than her too. We had a good time and learned how to make some new toys out of everyday things. Mia especially liked the bowl with balls in it. The Easter Bunny was there and was kind enough to let the children have their pictures taken on his lap. Mia did a great job and wasn’t scared at all. Hopefully she will be just as brave next year.
